Have you ever thought of writing a remote sensing lesson using African examples? If so - read on.
The European Space Agency (ESA) project LearnEO! have just launched a lesson writing competition with prizes of €5,000, €3,000 and €2,000 for the best lessons.
To encourage African participation the Europe Africa Marine Earth Observation Network (EAMNet) are awarding a further three prizes of €1,500 each to the authors of the best African lesson in the LearnEO! competition.
The African prizes are also intended to support these lesson authors to participate in the LearnEO! workshop of future Earth observation education, which will take place in the autumn of 2014.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the African travel prize you must be a national of an African country, resident in Africa during the period of the competition (July 2013 to January 2014).
To be eligible for the LearnEO! lesson writing competition, you must be over 18 on 1 January 2014. Lesson activities should use the Bilko software and include data from ESA satellites, exclusively or in combination with data from other satellites, in situ or model data.
Deadlines
- 15 January 2014: Registration for the LearnEO! competition
- 31 January 2014: Full LearnEO! lesson submission deadline
- 15 February 2014: Application deadline for the supporting EAMNet travel prize
